Come Rain or Shine, We're Still Alive
by Brandon Schmidt

I've been looking forward to today for a long time. Artists that I loved were scheduled to play at almost any given time, and I knew it would be a day that would be marked in my Alive history book forever. (Not that I have one, but you get the idea.) Sure, it was muddy, but nobody seemed to care. This was still going to be an awesome day.

I spent the first part of the day at the Beach Stage, where the crowd seemed to be the biggest it had been all week. After Last Tuesday opened the day, Ohioans Inhale Exhale and House of Heroes took the stage and showed their home state what they're all about. My highlight of the day soon came when newcomers Leeland led the Beach Stage crowd through an awesome, refreshing time of worship that many weren't expecting. (You should definitely check them out.)

Five of the seven artists that appeared on the main stage tonight were brand new to Alive, and I for one couldn't wait to see them. Copeland and Anberlin opened the evening to their die-hard fans before Desperation Band led the amphitheater through worship. Another new favorite band of mine, The Afters, debuted to the Alive audience, and Chris Tomlin used his incredible gift of leading worship once again to the thousands in attendance. And finally, in an event that seemed almost unreal to long-time fans, hometown boys Relient K closed out the night as headliners.

The rain had passed, and the sky finally cleared up. Praise the Lord.
