Alive and Kicking (Off)

I love mid-June. I love that feeling when it's officially summer. I love the excitement that comes with knowing one of the best weeks of the year is coming up fast. I love joining together with thousands of others in the middle of nature to truly come alive for what never fails to be a pretty terrific festival.

And I loved the feeling that was in the air as I drove through those country roads towards Clay's Park. There is just something different about this place during this week. Maybe it's the constant music. Maybe it's the smell of Chic Fil-A and funnel cakes. Maybe it's the people. Maybe it's the trees. I just know that I love it.

Tonight was the Alive'08 Kick-Off Concert, and two really great bands helped usher in this year's festival: This Beautiful Republic and The Afters. This Beautiful Republic opened things up nicely to a lively crowd and let us know that Alive is back once again. And soon I was in musical heaven as The Afters played a full set that made my ears rejoice. (I like them. You should, too.)

I will try my best to keep you all up to date on the happenings of this week. I know that it is going to be awesome.

Alive'08 has officially begun!
